Small business flavour

Another innovation in the latest version is a flavour of vPro designed specifically for small business, with the perhaps rash assumption that their computer systems "are likely managed by someone with no computer background at all." The definition of small business in this case is one that has 25 PCs or less.

There are a couple of technologies in this category. IT Director is a display that gives the user an overview of the system, its settings and its health. It also gives the ability to block connection to external USB drives - something the public sector might find handy - and a data back-up feature.

Intel vPro technology includes Core processors, the Q45 Express chipset, the 82567LM network connection and Intel Active Management technology 5.0. There are also two new motherboards that support all of the new vPro features and are aimed at the channel. The DQ45CB is for standard-sized PCs, while the DQ45EK is for small form-factor ones.
