Trawling the net

It’s been ten days since the official launch of the Eee PC 901/1000 and the MSI Wind and they’re still pretty hard to find. So we decided to share with you what we know.

Asus UK marketing manager Helen Ling hasn’t had too much to say on the matter but did give us this comment: “ASUS did deliver the atom Eee PC in the time-frame promised, however first deliveries were just all sold out quickly. There are more are to come (as they are on the way!)”

Distributor Interface Solutions had a delivery of Eee PC 901s late last week, all of which were pre-ordered. So did fellow distie VIP and product manager Stuart Watson confirmed that among its shipment were some Eee PC 1000s. Watson confirmed that he’s expecting more next week and is hoping that among them will be the 904.

We also spoke to Zoë Colver, marketing manager at etailer eXpansys, which specialises in smartphones and sub-laptop type devices, whotold us that eXpansys hadn’t received any 901s yet. No other etailers appear to have any – not even eBay.

Imagine our surprise then, when we looked on Ebuyer, only to stumble across 126 of them. We tried to contact Ebuyer to find out what it’s secret was but were unable to get through to a spokesperson. We’ll keep trying.
