Recession? What recession?

Eszter Morvay, senior research analyst at IDC, has told HEXUS.channel that the first quarter saw above expectation growth in PC units sold in the Western Europe region.

‘We had forecast growth of 11.9 percent for Western Europe and our preliminary results are showing 12.6 percent growth,’ said Morvay (pictured).

The main drivers were consumer and SMB notebook renewals and desktop replacements apparently.

‘The corporate segment is the most likely to be affected by the global economic situation as some companies will delay their hardware refreshes until later in the year or even next year,’ said Morvay.

Outside of Western Europe, although the numbers are smaller, growth is considerably higher as the slide below shows.
