Dell focuses on SMB "Heroes"

To Dell and back with Lonely Planet

Dell's SMB heroes ran the gamut, from Richard Reed, CEO of Innocent Drinks, who covers his car in astro turf and works from ‘fruit towers' to sell two million bottles of smoothies a week, to a clean energy company, a car tracking business, online gaming and even the Lonely Planet.

Co-founder of the Lonely Planet, Tony Wheeler, spoke to us about how tech had always been a big part of starting up the firm from its humble roots, as he and his wife travelled from Australia to Afghanistan.

"There's no way we would have grown so big without that tech behind us" Wheeler told HEXUS, admitting he had also put his trusty Dell laptops "through Hell" along his journeys.

Indeed, for his book, Badlands, in which Wheeler travelled his way across what the Bush Regime dubbed "The Axis of Evil," Wheeler told of how virtually indestructible his rugged Dell notebook had been, and how instrumental it was in writing the book.

He also told HEXUS about how the Lonely Planet's website had seen massive expansion over the last few years and how this too was increasing the firm's reliance on up to date, reliable technological support.
