The Exterior - Top and Bottom
The sole detail on the top of the unit, bar the paint finish quality, is the connector for the Wi-Fi antenna. You just push the antenna down gently until you feel it engage with the internal connector, flush with the top of the unit.
The actual hardware for the Wi-Fi implementation built into the chassis, is accessed from a screw panel on the underside of the unit.
Unscrewing the panel reveals the miniPCI card and the antenna connector that runs up from the bottom, up the rear side of the chassis internally, to the connector at the top.
As you can see, it uses an InProcomm IPN2120 802.11b chip on a miniPCI interface. The card is completely user changeable, giving you upgrade potential to future, and indeed current, Wi-Fi networking standards.
With the exterior examined, let's look under the skin of the ZMAXdp.
