Gaming - Far Cry
We've arrived at our gaming tests.
At 1024x768 with no AF or AA, the GPUs aren't under a huge amount of stress, so the focus is on the speed of the rest of the system. MESH's Core 2 Extreme X6800-powered beastie comes in at around 20% faster than SCAN's Athlon 64 FX-62 rig.
Pump up the resolution and image quality and Far Cry becomes more GPU bound. However, the Core 2 CPU in MESH's Elite Extreme SLI keeps ahead of the others, but this time by a much smaller margin.
Enter 1920x1200 and ATI's CrossFire takes over as the leading graphics configuration, while the GeForce 7900 GTX-powered systems sit fairly equal. Of course, this resolution is beyond that of the supplied monitor, but remains part of our standard testing regime, nonetheless.
