The question from the outset, we believe, was to see how the GeForce 7950 GX2 graphics card compared against the challenge presented by NVIDIA's own GeForce 7900 GTX and ATI's Radeon X1900 XT(X) cards. To accomplish this, we've run the SCAN machine's GeForce 7950 GX2 across our three high-resolution gaming benchmarks. We've then removed the card and replaced it with a single GeForce 7900 GTX and, then, with another GTX cards for SLI fun. Comparison ATI performance numbers have been produced from a similar FX-62-based setup, this time featuring ATI's RADEON XPRESS 3200 reference Sturgeon board. You can see the setup's specs. here. We note that an ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB card was used for testing and not the slightly faster XTX. Time pressures prohibited testing with it, but we'll update this review with those numbers in due course.

Then, just for kicks, we've run the GeForce cards at the ultra-high 2560x1600 resolution, for maximum card spankage.

The 'GX2 is around 50% faster than a single GeForce 7900 GTX 512MB card here, and around 25% faster than the Radeon X1900 XT. It's, obviously, slower than an SLI'd 'GTX setup.

Increasing the hurt influences framerates but does little to change the percentage delta between cards.
