Benchmarks II
A decent showing in the non-3D benchmarks. Gaming should, with all other things being equal, be pretty good.
The on-board graphics struggle to match even a vanilla GeForce2 MX. Still, they're better than the 1700 marks we've been seeing from integrated video in the past. We wonder how much of that 3,000+ marks score is down to the prodigious bandwidth of a dual-channel DDR-400 platform and 3.0GHz 'C' CPU. Almost all of it, we think. A breakdown of the SB61G2's score with a Radeon 9800 Pro is here
Serious Sam 2 now.
Pretty good with the Radeon 9800 Pro in place. Pretty poor with the on-board graphics. It's not really playable at 1024x768x32. The benchmark appeared to run jerkily in parts. You'd have to knock the settings down to something along the lines of 'Normal' and 16-bit for semi-fluid framerates
Comanche 4 next.
Comanche 4 will only run if a DX8(+) card is spotted by the engine, hence the 0 score of the Extreme 2 graphics. The SB61G2 - Radeon 9800 Pro combination continues to do better than the single-channel i845PE. There's absolutely no reason why it won't make an excellent gaming machine with a dedicated, powerful AGP card.
