There are no surprises here. The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is a beast when it comes to gaming and is second only to premium SLI machines. Those who like to see progress should note that the Scan machine's single GPU is almost a match for the dual GTX 980s in the DinoPC BX1.

The 3DMark and VRMark scores are right in line with our expectations of the Founders Edition card, but so is the Time Spy Stress Test result. 96.5 per cent isn't enough to pass, highlighting the fact that the GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition remains thermally challenged even in a chassis with five 120mm fans.

We already know that custom-cooled GTX 1080 Ti cards raise the bar even higher, but with stock yet to arrive the Founders Edition remains the go-to solution.

In-game performance is fantastic at a QHD resolution and decent at UHD in a range of modern titles. Much is made of 4K and VR, yet while the GTX 1080 Ti offers the best realisation of high-res gaming to date, we reckon the GPU is best suited to a QHD display with 120Hz G-Sync.
