Benchmarks: Power Consumption

The Marvell-based NAS solutions don't offer as much speed as the Intel-based competitors, but on the flip side they are more power efficient.

We found that the Iomega ix4-300d drew less than 40 watts under load, but we did experience problems with the built-in drive-standby mechanism; no matter what we tried, we couldn't get the disks to drop into standby after a period of inactivity. We're investigating the issue and will report back when we have an answer, but we suspect power consumption would drop closer to 20 watts in an extended-idle mode.
