Iometer write performance
Here are the same Iometer benchmarks but with the focus on write performance. The clean vs. well-used drives delta is far, far smaller here, to the tune of 10 per cent.| IOMeter - 64KB sequential write speed | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OCZ Vertex SSD 120GB | OCZ Vertex SSD 30GB | Intel X25-M SSD 80GB | Samsung Spinpoint F1-DT 750GB | Corsair P256 SSD 256GB |
| 142.78 | 97.66 | 70.52 | 66.63 | 156.58 |
Just like the read speed, sequential reading is excellent.
| IOMeter - 4KB random write | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OCZ Vertex SSD 120GB | OCZ Vertex SSD 30GB | Intel X25-M SSD 80GB | Samsung Spinpoint F1-DT 750GB | Corsair P256 SSD 256GB |
| 15.43 | 13.01 | 49.12 | 0.78 | 5.91 |
The 15MB/s result in the random 4K writes is actually very good, as the Intel drive is insanely fast in this particular test.
| IOMeter - IOPS (write) | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OCZ Vertex SSD 120GB | OCZ Vertex SSD 30GB | Intel X25-M SSD 80GB | Samsung Spinpoint F1-DT 750GB | Corsair P256 SSD 256GB |
| 3950.02 | 3330.43 | 12575 | 198.54 | 1511.93 |
Which is backed up by the IOPS result. Interestingly, it's almost 20 per cent faster than the 30GB model.
| IOMeter - average write latency | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OCZ Vertex SSD 120GB | OCZ Vertex SSD 30GB | Intel X25-M SSD 80GB | Samsung Spinpoint F1-DT 750GB | Corsair P256 SSD 256GB |
| 0.76 | 0.9 | 0.24 | 15.1 | 1.98 |
| IOMeter - maximum write latency | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OCZ Vertex SSD 120GB | OCZ Vertex SSD 30GB | Intel X25-M SSD 80GB | Samsung Spinpoint F1-DT 750GB | Corsair P256 SSD 256GB |
| 9.82 | 9.39 | 93.36 | 1034.61 | 27.94 |
The write latency, or lack of, is also impressive.
