...and relax.
As is often the case, each new Thecus NAS brings with it an ever-growing list of features. In comparison to the older five-bay N5200 Pro, we see the Intel Celeron M CPU bumped up from a 1.5GHz part to a quicker 1.86GHz alternative. Personally, we'd like to see a lower-power Intel Atom option, and we're almost certain to see Thecus launch Atom-powered models in future, we feel.
Adding to the hardware supremacy is a doubling up of DDR2 memory, with the N7700 equipped with a tidy 1GB. And, of course, a massive seven SATA drive bays that officially support 1.5TB drives - no word yet on 2TB compatibility, but that could open the door to a huge 14TB total capacity. The officially-certified 10.5TB maximum capacity is nothing to scoff at, either.
In addition to high-end functionality such as iSCSI and six-unit stacking, the N7700 supports automatic RAID rebuilding and expansion, and is one of few Thecus NAS products to support a choice of ext3 and ZFS file systems.
In terms of hardware and software features, then, this is a NAS that doesn't skimp on the little extras.
