There are PCIe 4.0 and then there's supreme PCIe 4.0 SSDs. Not all are made the same. WD, Phison and Samsung are leading the charge with NVMe models achieving the bandwidth possible by the interface.
In more regular tasks, the SN850 remains top dog, beating out first-generation PCIe 4.0 by a healthy margin everywhere. WD says it has reduced the latency; that's in evidence here.
