Gaming Tests
Why are we seeing such marginal gains when memory frequency has been increased by over 30 per cent? The Core i7-5960X is loaded with an incredible level of on-chip cache, mitigating the need to run out to system memory on a frequent basis. And the quad-channel memory architecture is very efficient at 2,133MHz speeds. You're simply not going to see the 20 per cent-plus gains in most real-world applications.
Another instance of a small, consistent gain.
And guess what, faster memory pushes the 1080p ultra-quality score up by a nudge, too.
Here's something that's not readily explainable. We ran the test 10 times and still saw the sub-par performance with DDR4 2,800MHz memory. There's something in the game that doesn't appreciate a higher base clock and fast memory.
