Here we look at the Far Cry 2 benchmark loading time from when the splash screen appears to the time when the benchmark starts.
We also pre-load the system by opening 20 pictures (3MB each) in Corel Paint Shop Pro X2, to simulate real-life computing load when gaming, but see scant difference in loading times, irrespective of memory used.
Overclocking
An operating frequency of 2GHz for a triple-channel Core i7 kit is already pushing the boundaries of what's possible, but we wanted to see just how much farther it would go.
Keeping a command rate of 1T, we inched the modules up to an effective 2,100MHz - a speed stable enough to run our full suite of benchmarks.
How's about a juicy 35.6GB/s of bandwidth?
