OSD and everyday usability
AOC provide an OSD that covers most tweaking options such as brightness, colour temperature, contrast, gamma and numerous presets for different usage scenarios.
Notably, there's a cool colour temperature preset for users who are unhappy with the default warm configuration.
It's fair to say the OSD is well-fleshed-out and should allow users to get the kind of experience they'd like.
The AOC Q2778VQE is an immensely pleasant monitor to use thanks to its IPS-like colour vibrancy, wide brightness range and numerous tweaking options that allow the user to craft the kind of experience they want. The 1440p resolution delivers a fine balance between scaling-free workspace and visual quality for a hassle-free solution - the same cannot be said for UHD monitors of an equivalent size.
In testing it's difficult to believe this monitor isn't IPS given that it delivers surprisingly wide horizontal and vertical viewing angles with minimal colour shift. Furthermore, there's virtually no detectable backlight bleed at any brightness levels and the non-glossy finish to the monitor prevents glare from ambient light.
