Uniformity and Efficiency
Colour uniformity
It is generally considered that a variance of less than five to be acceptable when it comes to colour uniformity, and larger panels typically fall short of the mark. The Philips 499P9H has no such troubles and shows good consistency throughout.
Luminance uniformity
Luminance uniformity is pretty decent, too. Anything less than 10 per cent is hard to notice during everyday use, and though the benchmark reveals the bottom-right as a potential weak point, I struggled to perceive any real difference throughout testing.
And I'm pleasantly surprised when it comes to power efficiency, too. Large, bright panels can be costly to run, and given its size, the Philips 499P9H is relatively frugal at the mains.
