Colour, Luminance, Power, and FreeSync

Colour is consistent across the screen but the luminance uniformity, measuring the brightness levels, leaves more to be desired.

Power consumption is pretty good, mind.

FreeSync observations

It would be remiss to go through an evaluation of a monitor of this ilk and not talk about its main selling point: FreeSync. The screen's 1080p resolution is beneficial in this regard insofar as it is easy to drive.

We used a Sapphire Radeon RX 570 graphics card in our regular graphics rig and found that it was able to hit close to 75fps in most titles when image quality was dialled all the way up at 1080p. That said, we would occasionally see the card fall out of the 48-75Hz FreeSync range when the action became heavy - it's readily noticeable, too - so gaming aficionados may want to look at a screen with a bigger range.

Still, running the game with FreeSync turned off is not as pleasurable an experience in Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Tomb Raider or Hitman. What this really means is that you need to tune the game's settings to deliver framerates within the G2730's FreeSync range. When that does happen, action is smooth and gameplay enjoyable.
