The GA-K8NXP-SLI's BIOS is an Award powered affair, and a comprehensive
one at that. All of the basic options are in there, and there is
plenty for the overclocker too, split between the (hidden by default)
Advanced Chipset Features and MB Intelligent Tweaker menus.
Starting with Advanced Chipset Features, we find options here to control
HT width and frequency, as well as having complete control over both
memory clocks and timings. Everything you could possibly need is
accessible to tune your RAM setup to suit your exact needs.
The MB Intelligent Tweaker screen contains another cornucopia of
advanced settings, allowing every facet to be altered to your hearts
desire. Everything is covered here - From CPU multiplier and
frequency to control of CPU, core, HT and RAM voltages. The PCI
Express clock can also be altered and thus effectively locked.
The BIOS provided allows a vast range of CPU frequencies to be
selected, from the default 200MHz all the way up to 400MHz, in 1MHz
increments. The only downside of the setup is that you need to
scroll through to your desired speed, rather than simply typing it in,
making it potentially time consuming to scroll all the way through to
the option you require! The PCI Express clock is also very
flexible, allowing speeds between 100 and 150MHz. The CPU
multiplier can be changed to anything from 4x up to the 12x allowed by
our Athlon64 4000+ chip. CPU voltage can be raised to 1.750V from the
default 1.5, with core and HT voltages allowing for up to a +0.3V
increase. RAM is allowed up to a 0.2V increase.
All in all, it would be hard to ask for a more comprehensive BIOS.
