The 690G's ageing SB600 southbridge trails the I/O throughput of the NVIDIA-based offering, although the results are generally close enough to be acceptable.

Once AMD launches its 700-series chipsets, we should see the introduction of the SB700 southbridge and, hopefully, that will give AMD a shot in the arm in this area.
