Memory Tests
We begin with a look at three tests to measure the performance of the motherboards memory subsystem, starting with our own custom Pifast test.Pifast
The GA-K8VT800 Pro suffers as a result of its slightly more lax memory timings here, slipping slightly behind the other two boards in the latency stakes.
Sciencemark 2.0 - Bandwidth
Here, we use Sciencemark 2.0 to measures the peak bandwidth between the CPU and memory controller, in other words the bandwidth available to the CPU during memory intensive tasks.Scores here remain similar across the three motherboard on test, mainly due to the fact that the memory controller is integrated on the processor for Athlon64-based systems. The Gigabyte board does trail a little however, again most likely due to its less aggressive memory timings.
Sciencemark 2.0 - Access Latency
Gigabyte's offering trails the other two boards slightly in Sciencemark's access latency test - Again this is probably due to the difference in RAS to CAS delay settings, particularly between this and the ABIT board.
