Graphical Tests

nForce4 Ultra lets us compare PEG16X to AGP8X using the same processor and graphics cards for the first time using AMD processors. I use a quartet of tests to determine performance, including Doom 3.

3DMark 2001SE

3DMark 2001SE

The nForce4 Ultra puts 400 marks on the K8T800 Pro's score in what's turning out to be a whitewash in terms of the win count, no matter how small those wins turn out to be. With 6800 GT and FX-53, that's easily the fastest 3DMark 2001SE stock score I've seen to date. Imagine FX-55 and Radeon X800 XT PE in this test, on nForce4 Ultra.

It's only 60 points this time, under 1%, but again nForce4 Ultra has the legs to best K8T800 Pro. Impressive.

And the K8T800 Pro pulls one back! By this time it's too late and we've already established that nForce4 Ultra performance is somewhat strong, even at this early stage. PCI Express graphics gets a free reign to perform well on NVIDIA's new core logic.

Doom 3

Doom 3

The final test in our suit shows a 3.5% difference in favour of nForce4 Ultra in a break from the normal 1% variation. nForce4 Ultra, 66.81 ForceWare graphics driver and the 6.11 BETA platform driver seem to allow extra Doom 3 performance over what the fast K8T800 Pro could muster.
