It should be clear by now that, from a CPU or IGP perspective, Z97 won't offer much of a performance advantage over outgoing Z87. The above graphs illustrate in-game performance at a modest 720p resolution with medium/high quality settings. Bumping the resolution up to 1080p results in sub-30fps on all boards, highlighting the limited gaming potential of the Intel HD 4600 IGP.
