X², UT2003, Quake III
On to X²: The Threat. The test was run at the abnormal resolution of 800x600. At 1024x768 the results tended to be GPU bound. The GeForce4 MX integrated GPU displayed erratic behaviour during testing. The benchmark would often appear incredibly jerky at times. It seems to be a NVIDIA theme in X².
This custom Bot Match is designed to test the efficiency of the motherboard / memory / GPU combination. That's verified by the decent performance from the integrated GPU. It's can be considered a test of bandwidth and CPU grunt. No surprise to see the A64 hogging the top spot.
Quake III isn't a game that we'd consider in our present graphics card suite, it does, however, provide excellent information with respect to bandwidth and effects of varying memory latencies. We lose almost 40FPS when going down to DC DDR333. The demo was smooth on the integrated graphics. They're not there as an afterthought. They provide decent 2D and passable 3D with semi-modern engines.
