Benchmarks I
Just a recap. The DFI i865PE INFINITY will be run with its maximum settings of DDR400 memory, Super PATCH and Chipset Enhancement enabled. It'll be run at both 2.4GHz and 3.2GHz speeds. Firstly SiSoft SANDRA's unbuffered memory benchmark.
Standard Springdales usually benchmark at around the 2400MB/s figure, and standard Canterwoods manage around 2700MB/s. Almost 2.9GB/s of unbuffered integer bandwidth leads us to believe that this is a supremely 'tweaked' Springdale, and, as such, about as good as i865PE gets. Expect some blistering performance from DFI's finest Springdale board.
Pifast seems to corroborate the findings. The DFI gets very, very close to the benchmark laid down by the tweaked IC7-MAX3. A clock speed deficit of 800MHz leads to a 17s slower time.
Archiving your music CD collection into MP3 form is best done with a CPU with lots of MHz. Clock speed is of most importance here. The 2.4Ghz's time is linearly related to that of the 3.2GHz setup.
