Peripheral Performance
We're looking at SATA and USB 3.0 performance provided by the various chipsets, not add-on controllers. Z87 matches what's already on offer from Intel's own Z77 and AMD's FM2.
We're throwing this one in for a bit of fun. We set the respective BIOSes to boot as quickly as possible - the components are the same, remember - and then hand-timed the duration from pressing the power button to when the Windows 8 screen became usable. The Z87-D3HP gets there mighty quick, clearly.
