Benchmarks II

You should know the order of benchmarks by now. Next is DVD-to-DivX encoding. DivX4.12 with a 2-pass encoding of Gone in 60 seconds with an 1800kb/s bit rate. An average is calculated when the first VOB is complete.

The three DDR333-powered solutions all are covered by 0.5fps. RAMBUS, running at PC1066 speeds, speeds off into the distance in no uncertain terms. The IT7-MAX2 (i845E), running officially supported DDR266 memory, brings up the rear of our test quintet.

On to the OcUK SETI benchmark. I'm an avid SETI runner now so this was of particular interest for me. This takes a while to complete.

Bandwidth, bandwidth, and some more bandwidth is what's required for SETI. The PC1066 RAMBUS memory is shown in a good light with this lengthy benchmark. Good performances all round from the DDR333 chipsets. The MAX2 v2 just squeezes past the SiS648 motherboard again.
