Benchmarks III

On to gaming and 3DMark 2001SE. The scores may seem a little elevated now. That's due to the newer driver set that we're using. The Detonator 40.41s have increased scores by something in the region of 1300 marks on a clock-for-clock basis with the previously used 30.82s. Run at the default resolution of 1024x768x32.

It's no secret that the benchmark is partial to a Pentium 4. The AK37 puts up a solid showing when run at DDR333. You'll know why it doesn't perform so well in DDR400 by now.

A close set of benchmarks here all round.

Another benchmark that relies heavily on the host processor and memory subsystem is Comanche 4. The DX8-compliant benchmark also requires masses of geometry information from the system. Benchmarked at 1024x768x32.

The benchmarks results are a little lower than I expected. The 40.41 GeForce drivers don't seem to be optimised for this benchmark. As always, Comanche 4 shows its liking for a Pentium 4 platform. Here the CPU is more important than the graphics card used, especially if it is either a GeForce4 Ti or R9700.
