3DMark 2001 SE, Quake3

The usual drill with 3DMark 2001 SE, it's a full system benchmark that needs a good all round setup to achieve good scores. 6000+ 3DMark's indicates good performance with the majority of games at the moment but we'll soon have to revise that figure with games like Morrowind really pushing cards and systems hard, especially with extra features like FSAA and anisotropic filtering enabled.

With regards to the performance versus the 4G4A+ and the NB76, expect much the same from the BG7 since they share the same chipset.

Exactly what we expected with the BG7 splitting the other two i845G boards and again we see the remarkable 1 point gap between them. With a rogue result up in the 106xx area that I had to disgard, getting so close to the performance of the other 2 i845G boards is as much a testament to Intel's chipset design than the lack of adjustment from the 3 manufacturers as far as customising them from the factory settings that Intel set.

Generic performance from all systems across the board with the Thoroughbred system in the SOYO DRAGON KT333 board taking home the gold medal.

Quake 3 next and we should see much the same. Maybe the BG7 can edge ahead of the 4G4A+ here, maybe not!

The MSI wins here but by such a small margin that you could wonder why I bother telling you. Generic performance from yet another i845G board when compared to its peers so yet again, even this early in the review, we know that price and features are going to decide whether the BG7 gets the nod over the 4G4A+.

When system throughput really matters at 1024x768 you can see the P4 systems leave the KT333 boards far behind but that's incidental since the KT333 and XP2200+ isn't exactly slow.

Onto Serious Sam 2 and a Aquamark to see if we can seperate the BG7 from the rest of the pack.
