Benchmarks II
Gaming is a facet of computing that pushes most systems to the limit. It relies on decent interaction between the memory controller, AGP controller and CPU to function effectively. We'll start off with 3DMark 2001SE. I'll benchmark it at its native resolution of 1024x768x32. Remember, I'm using a GeForce4 Ti 4200 with best image quality enabled. Your results may differ from the ones obtained here.
Pretty much a tie here. You can't really tell the difference between scores that are within 2% of each other. With today's faster graphics cards, the onus is on the CPU to keep the card fed with data. They may approach the benchmarks in different ways, but the results are largely similar.
How about some Serious Sam 2 action ?, benchmarking the Valley of the Jaguar Timedemo contained within the publicly available test. Resolution is set to 1024x768x32 Normal settings. This test places the emphasis on the CPU and memory subsystems as it involves a huge amount of geometry.
I'd call this a tie. Both platforms produce excellent results. Onto Comanche 4 and Quake 3.
