The SATA controller on the Z77 chipset does a good job at extracting the maximum speed from a freshly-formatted Corsair V128 solid-state drive.

The USB 3.0 test involves running AS SSD's sequential benchmark on a Kingston G2 16GB USB 3.0 stick. The numbers do the talking here. Note that benchmarking on either the Etron or Intel USB 3.0 ports shows less than 0.2 per cent deviation in the speeds - we quote the Intel ones in the above graph for the Z77 Gigabyte.
