Overclocking Tests

You are not buying this board, or even contemplating it, for running a chip at stock speeds. Any Z490 will do that.

Built for overclocking, we managed to eke an extra 50MHz from the CPU core. The chip simply wouldn't run any benchmark for longer than 30 seconds at 5.2GHz, irrespective of voltage, so that's the absolute ceiling without resorting to mad cooling.

We can also say the Xtreme has no problem in handling fast memory. 4,900MHz is straightforward from dual-channel Corsair Vengeance LPX 4800 memory.

Overall, though, the platform performance is still behind AMD when it matters most.
