Benchmarks: Power Draw and Battery Life
Battery life was poor on the original Aorus X5, partly due to the SLI laptop's inability to utilise Nvidia Optimus technology. The X5S v5 Camo doesn't have that problem and the GTX 980M, without needing G-Sync support, can turn off during light load, leaving it to Intel's integrated HD 530 to carry out graphics duties.
The knock-on effect is better battery life, but there's still plenty of room for further optimisation. In our battery rundown test, which entails looping a high-definition movie clip with 50 per cent screen brightness and all wireless radios disabled, the X5S v5 Camo managed to keep going for just three-and-a-half hours.
