Benchmarks: Vitals and Battery Life
The UX490UA has proven to be a solid performer in every area thus far, however there are some shortcomings. Asus tells us its engineers "had to invent a brand-new cooling system using state-of-the-art components" in order to tame the Core i5 CPU, but there's still work to be done. The chip quickly hits 80ºC during full load and, when in use, the internal fan is almost always active, resulting in unwanted noise.
Battery life also leaves something to be desired. A runtime of just over nine hours is hardly terrible, yet competing solutions have raised the bar, and anything under 10 hours can now be deemed ordinary.
