Benchmarks: Gaming
Here's where things get interesting. We recently had the opportunity to examine the GeForce GTX 1050 in an 17.3in Asus laptop, only to find that the GPU was throttling and limiting performance. There are no such issues with the Aspire VX 15. The Nvidia chip maintained a speed of 1,709MHz throughout our benchmarks, resulting in a solid if not spectacular 3DMark score of 5,343.
But even a stable boost frequency will only get a GTX 1050 so far. The low-end GPU ought to be sufficient for less demanding titles such as League of Legends, but it will struggle to render modern games with reasonable levels of image quality.
Achieving 60fps in the likes of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Hitman and Rise of the Tomb Raider at the laptop's native resolution is far from easy, and quality settings need to be reduced in order to maintain a smooth experience.
