Without IQ enhancing options enabled, Futuremark's mixed mode DirectX benchmark ranks the 6600 GT as faster than the X700 PRO, with both X700 PRO boards bunching up together, as expected at highly similar clock rates.
With IQ options enabled, the X700 PRO boards get closer to 6600 GT at the mid and high level settings. The extra memory on the boards compared to the NVIDIA hardware allows that to happen; memory pressure on a 128MB board at 1600x1200 with 4-sample AA applied and a level of anisotropic filtering is quite high depending on other data in card memory.
