Quake 4 performance

AMD has clearly made big improvements to its 2000-series OpenGL driver in the past month.
The HIS HD 2600 XT IceQ Turbo is able not only to deliver acceptable framerates at 1600x1200 but also - and more importantly - beat out the GeForce 8600 GT.
And, when running the final drivers, even the HD 2600 XT Zalman Fan is able to gain near level pegging - an unheard of situation for an ATI card in OpenGL.
However, anti-aliasing still proves a weak point. At 1280x1024, 4x AA, 8x AF, neither of the HD 2600 XT cards can keep pace with the 8600 GT.
