Fallout 4

Homepage: fallout4.com | Publisher: Bethesda Softworks | Developer: Bethesda Game Studios

Introduced as the fifth major entry in the series, Fallout 4 takes place in post-apocalyptic Boston in the year 2287, 210 years after a Nuclear war. Not the most uplifting environment, but there are plenty of open environments to explore and the visuals, especially on PC, are at times dazzling.

We're now back in familiar territory, though performance from this stock-clocked card is closer to the GTX 970 OC. Guess what? It's about 10 per cent faster than a regular RX 480 here, as well, and QHD is again the best compromise.

Nvidia's claims of this GPU being better than a GeForce GTX 980 seem to be bombastic thus far.

The 10 per cent increase in frame rate - 56fps vs, 50fps average - isn't the most impressive facet of performance. The GTX 1060's worst frame times are a lot better than the Radeon's. What this means is performance is noticeably smoother in the parts of the benchmark where there's most action. Such analysis cannot be inferred from the minimum frame rate alone. A clear win for the newest Pascal chip.
