The X800 PRO ends up nearly twice as fast as the 9800 XT at the upper setting. At the median and lower settings the argument for X800 PRO is less compelling, but still evident.

We're CPU limited initially with the new generation of GPUs. You'd be forgiven for thinking the 9800 XT had excellent performance in isolation, which it does, but the new generation series' on the graph tell you that much much more is available now. X800 PRO performance in Painkiller at the median and upper settings is very strong.
