Image Quality Performance
ATI Radeon X700 XT
In UT2003, the X700 XT wouldn't apply 16X anisotropic filtering correctly when using the CCC or regular control panel. Looks like a driver bug. The XT experiences a sharper drop off in performance when applying anti-aliasing, compared to the 6600 GT, in Unreal Tournament 2003, a simple DX8 rendering case that's chosen for its shader-free nature.
Initially, anisotropic filtering sees a distinct drop-off in performance until 8X shows itself as being only applied to a minimum of surface angles, compared to the other degrees of application.
Comparing the two cards in this simple test, 6600 GT is the stronger.
