Alien: Isolation

One of the most terrifying games of recent years, Alien: Isolation is a must for fans of the series and on PC hardware it looks as good as it plays. To gauge performance, we benchmark a 45-second stint of the game at FHD, QHD and 4K UHD resolutions.

In-game performance is what matters and FHD 1080p is clearly the GTX 960's strength. At a 1,920x1,080 resolution, the Asus card is 32 per cent quicker than GTX 660 but only 5 per cent faster than GTX 760. Not a big step forward by any means and not enough to match the performance of AMD's R9 280X.

The 1080p results are most relevant to this review, however we've also included QHD and 4K UHD numbers for those who are curious. The narrow memory bus doesn't appear to be causing much of a conflict at a FHD resolution, but expect to see GTX 960 slide down the charts at 4K UHD.
