Call of Duty uses OpenGL, rather than DirectX. Traditionally stronger with OpenGL than ATI GPUs, both of the NVIDIA chips perform better at the median setting than the Radeon 9600XT, despite it being quicker initially. The Point of View ends up 25% faster at the median setting, quite the lead over its main rival.
