Open-world gaming at its very best, Far Cry 3 redefines the genre through breathtaking visuals and first-class gameplay.

SLI improvements are worth 51 per cent in Far Cry 3. You may wonder why the increase isn't so great. The answer is provided by looking at the frequencies for the single- and dual-card Palit GTX 780 setup. A single card runs at an average 1,045MHz in this title, two cards rarely exceed 902MHz. The reason for this is the significantly higher temperatures when two cards are placed in close proximity to one another, thus inhibiting GPU Boost from ramping up.

And you get a few more sub-33ms frames as a result of having two cards albeit running slower.

Here's something unexpected. The game doesn't feel as smooth with dual GPUs even though framerates are higher. Investigating the slowest one per cent of frames sheds light as to why; two cards have more erratic rendering when we take a closer look at the worst frames.
