Gun Metal 2

  • Author: Yeti Studios
  • DirectX Class: 9.0
  • Pixel and Vertex Shaders: Yes (PS1.4, VS2.0; single vertex shader, otherwise lower spec at all times)

Impressive performance from the NVIDIA boards in a benchmark designed to do well on them, but lack of applying user defined AF or AA means quantifying performance is hard. I doubt NVIDIA will ever release a driver that lets the user set AA and AF on Gun Metal 2, so we'll drop that from our test suite soon. It's a poor DX9 test anyway, scratching under the surface. You can't call it a VS2.0 class game if there's only one VS2.0 shader.

Ignore this test if you're making a buying decision, it's included for completeness only.

Notes

CATALYST 3.8 seems to have a shadowing bug, since cloud shadows in Gun Metal 2 are rendered incorrectly on the Radeon's. Possibly Cg related? Otherwise the near stage aniso filter seems to be excellent on all cards and general IQ is great across the board.
