Quake 3 v1.30

  • Author: iD Software
  • DirectX Class: 6.0
  • Pixel and Vertex Shaders: No
  • Other: Uses OpenGL, Multitexture heavy, 16-bit source art
ATI discourages reviewers from using Quake 3, because it's so old, but I still find it a valid test, due to the number of games its rendering engine appears in that are still actively sold and played.

With the valid resolution for mid range hardware being 1024x768, the fact that performane is so great, even with IQ applied, is excellent. Q3 engine games are no match for todays midrange entrants.

Notes

No apparent IQ issues on any card. No trilinear bug in OpenGL with 52.xx drivers.
