Unreal Tournament 2003

Unreal Tournament 2003 is perhaps our favourite benchmarking tool at HEXUS. It's superbly consistent, great to watch and a hoot to play. Build 2206 is benchmarked here.

The three main protagonists are all in close attendance of one another. The underpowered 9600 is left to cut a sorry figure at the bottom of almost every graph.

Midrange cards often exhibit half the normal performance when going from no image enhancement to 4x AA / 8x AF. That seems to have been further substantiated by UT2003.

But then going from 1024x768x32 4x AA / 8x AF to 1600x1200x32 4x AA / 8x AF simply swamps the cards' capabilities. It's a case of not having enough oomph to process the demo's requirements at a reasonable frame-rate. It's also a case of simple maths. The cards' specifications cannot adequately process the number of pixels and reads they're having to make at this exotic setting.
