Overclocking

The shipping 1,070/6,400MHz clocks are actually lower than a few Radeon HD 7970-class GPUs on the market today. This tells us there's scope to go higher on both fronts. We overclocked by raising frequencies whilst keeping the voltage at stock levels.

A rock-solid 1,200MHz core and 7,000MHz memory isn't shabby, highlighting the maturity of the Tahiti GCN architecture.

Higher clocks reflect in better scores in both 3DMark and Far Cry 3. The OC speeds are about as high as the Tahiti architecture allows, so anyone looking for a faster single-GPU Radeon will need to wait for the 'Hawaii'-based R9 290X.
