Comanche 4

The turn of Comanche 4 now. It begins life as a system-limited benchmark at 1024x768 but then turns into a card-limited benchmark at the highest setting of 1600x1200 with 4x FSAA and 8x AF.

The differences between the cards are statistically insignificant. The system is holding the overall FPS back, as the CPU's busy calculating all the geometry required.

Now we see some form of card limitation kick in with reduced scores. Heavy anisotropic filtering begins the tax the cards' architecture.

At these settings it isn't really about having greater on-board RAM. It's all to do with the cards being strangled by the savage cocktail of high resolution and high levels of AA and AF. The question one really needs to ask is whether implementing AA and AF at such a high resolution will bring real, tangible gains in IQ. The 1.92 million pixels should offset the need for high degrees of both AA and AF.
