Quake 3 v1.30

Quake 3 now, not for the base test, current cards make a mockery of it, but for the performance with IQ features on, just to see how current boards do in our pseudo DX6 test.

Wooo, interesting. IQ on instead.

4xAA, and especially 8 sample aniso, gives the FX's more to think about than the Radeon's. It might be down to the aniso algorithm in this style of render setup, but we don't do enough testing here to confirm. Both Radeon's end up quicker than the NV35 hardware in this example setup.

The coolest thing about this graph is just how much the midrange FX chokes when made to really push the pixels. While we're not focussing on the midrange at all, it does serve to highlight just how a high end architecture like R300, R350 or NV35 gets things done. All 4 high end boards have more pixel and texture fillrate than they know what to do with normally, this high pixel test really eats it all up, memory bandwidth too.

PD merely confirms what we've discussed. Efficient drops due to IQ from the Radeons, which are more at ease than the NV35 boards. Then identical drops when we make them work hard. Another!
