As the FX5200 and FX5600 are mid range, mainstream, cards we decided to test them using a mid range Intel processor; this will hopefully assist you in evaluating their performance.
Test Hardware:
Variable equipment…
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600 Ultra
Leadtek A280 LDH GeForce Ti4200 8X AGP
ATI Radeon 9000 Pro All In Wonder
ATI Radeon 9500 Pro
Note… All of the above cards had 128MB of DDR Memory and were run at stock speed.
Fixed Equipment…
Intel Pentium 4 2.4b Processor @ 2400 MHz and 133Mhz FSB
Asus P4G8X Deluxe Motherboard
512Mb Corsair XMS DDR 3500 CAS2 System memory
80GB Seagate SATA hard Drive
Software
Windows XP Professional SP1
DirectX 9
NVIDIA Detonator driver’s version.42.72
ATI Catalyst 3.0 Drivers and control panel
Setup
Firstly we ran a series of tests on each graphics card with the drivers set at their standard / default settings. The only adjustment made was to disable vertical sync from the NVIDIA detonators so that it matched the default ATI settings. We then re ran the tests with the cards high image quality features enabled.
